Oh my oh my aren't you all male appendages, FFS he's an over bearing wee A hole and listen to all of you blowing smoke up his bum, I could only listen to him for half the video, it was like a story book for children, fucking man up.
I just wanna know how you took in wall and door and vent sizing to have the perfect spacing. To begin and end with a full slat? Cause could figure out the spacing for the wall. But I don’t know how to account for the door and vent you did.
Unbelievable how expensive wood is considering it grows on trees.
Very true. It does take a lot of work to get it from a tree into boards that are straight and dried properly though
It's height not heigth
Americans say heig(th) all of the time. It's just one of those broken English terms
The TV is too high, it should be eye level for the seating position.
Maybe so. I appreciate your oppinion
Please stop saying costed is wrong. Cost is cost past and present
I learned. Thanks!
Nice😍
Thank you!
Making wood shine like a car only for winter to mess it up. Bless you
It still looks great actually! Thanks!
WHITE OAK?? WHITE OAK?? I bought a japanese wooden bokken made out of that shit... that shit is TOUGHT AS NAILS god dayam!!
Yeah it is!
I see so many woodworkers building their business the wrong way. Thanks for this.
Thanks for watching!
The demon code prevents me from doing it the hard way. It dictates using the Domino or Mafell Dowler. 🤣🤣🤣 😈😈😈
We all have demons. I get it
That was a good watch.
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope to see you around!
That’s why they use it to make drum sticks
And baseball bats
@@FortressFineWoodworks true
finally, some good advanced finish video action. thank you
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Awesome work. Those dents would probably have steamed out with a hot iron ? stainless steel brads I hope.😄
The fibers broke on the crushed section, it may have steamed back to the original form, but the stain would've highlighted the problem. Here in Colorado, we don't need to use stainless steel brads because we don't have humidity
Hard luck. The great Alan Peters ( UK cabinetmaker ) urged sceptics to make a wood/ aluminium /wood sandwich and see what happens. It moves of course. It's still a thing of beauty.
Mmmm a wood and aluminum sandwich. Sounds nutritious
Hmmm, would've purchased a MIG welder to start and to weld that thin material.
I agree, a mig was just too expensive for the budget though
I'm surprised you don't have a Festool Domino. Awesome shop BTW.
I do have one, but mortise and tenons made for an interesting project
Thanks for the warning. Haven't worked with it yet. Maybe I won't.
It has a really nice look though
just found your channel. really good stuff..
Glad you found Fortress! I hope to see you more often!
Seeing B roll of the piece in situ is a nice touch. So often I wonder what the intended result is, and it's so satisfying to see. It also shows the choice for why to design like that given the geometric tiles, thicker spout on the kitchen sink, and lampshade shapes.
Thanks for that. It's always nice when it gives that satisfaction!
21:43 I paused and clapped. Bravo.
Thanks!
What is that drill bit at 16:58 ?
It's a self centering drill bit amzn.to/3xqzd9S
@@FortressFineWoodworks Thankyou!
*laughs in Iroko* *giggles in camelthorn* My tools were screaming. Surprisingly, my Stanley No80 with a Ron Hock blade did most of the finishing without a need for sanding though. Nice work though mate. Result speaks for itself.
Thank you! Are those Ron Hock blades pretty nice?
Yeah but do I need a $135,000 workshop filled with pro Festool equip first….? 😅
Actually no you don't. Here's a video where I did an epic accent wall in a single car garage workshop. ua-cam.com/video/ip_pcXjTTZA/v-deo.htmlsi=57ofWc4j0I_O9LJm
Hobi yang bisa membuat kita bahagia dan mendapat financial, keren sobat👍💯
Thank you for watching!
Lovely!!!!!!!!!!❤
Thank you!
The hand saw is all too real. I live in an apartment and can’t really use power tools so hand tools it is… unfortunately getting straight cuts is nothing short of a miracle.
So true. I guess that's why they invented a shooting board
@@FortressFineWoodworks unless there’s a premade one that I could buy, I might have trouble making one without a way to make 90° cuts haha!
Perfect aas always nice to toot your own horn😮
If you watch my full length videos, you'll see that it's not always a perfect journey getting there though
And the wood moves/ grows/shrinks.
It sure does
Such a breath of fresh air. Do you do any cleaning away of dust in between sanding the various finish coats? You only show one at the end. Thank you 🙏
Great job! this is my new favorite wood working channel :D I can totally relate as well when you learned to weld, exact same thing happened to me! :D keep it up!
That's great to hear! I'm glad you are enjoying it and relating! Thanks for watching.
I know this is gonna sound dumb, but a very long time ago, when I was young, wood was cheaper, and painter's tape didn't exist, so the "common practice" to not get tear-out, was to double-up wood with a piece of "scrap wood" along your cut... There might be cases in which you'd still be inclined, but with rotary tools being common, or even oscillating tools, and better finishing blades, I can't think of any... So strange, eh? I know there's a tendency to think that the "old ways" are better, but things evolve for a reason. Just a thought. Good job.
I think that's a great idea. Adding sacrificial wood is always the best way to eliminate tearout. Blue tape is just faster.
yeah, built a couple cabinmate doors with this a few months ago using nothing but hand tools, really really hard!! high carbon content is hard on blades, I had to sharpen after every other stroke.
Haha sharpen after every stroke. That hickory will getcha
@@FortressFineWoodworks tea is hard on blades too, thank god i just bought a cbn wheel, makes quick work of hand sharpened blades sharpened by a beginner hand sharpener lol.
The verb "cost" is an irregular verb, meaning "cost" does not form the past tense or past participle by adding "-ed" to the base form... There is no such word in English as "costed"...
I've learned. Thanks for explaining it further!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you! And I appreciate you watching!
Looks like a clean 90 to me 😅
Eh, plus or minus a touch.
Did a hickory floor for a client and the nailer didn’t like it .
Yeah it's not the best
Its the wonky donkey either that or the hickory cheese wedge😅😂🤣
🧀 thanks for watching!
Masking tape
I hear that works pretty well!
Don't give up your day job.
Ironically my day job is building furniture. Check out my full length videos!
Hickory and aluminum have a lot in common. Aluminum is a little bit easier to work.
Haha yeah it doesn't tear out like hickory
I'm a wood flooring salesman. Customers LOVE the look of Hickory, at least in my market, but I can't tell you how many times I've had them say "my contractor won't work with it." Still one of our top sellers, though.
For flooring, it wouldn't be too bad. It's just crosscuts for the most part
@@FortressFineWoodworks Very true. Probably why it still ends up selling well, lol
Extremely expensive too
Is it? In your area maybe? Because it's fairly cost effective here in Colorado
Use a cutting oil/coolant and spray it directly on the tips of the teeth, probably doublecutting or not clearing chips properly, maybe even an air/mist line pointed at it?? Coolant was always a requirement when I worked at a machine shop and you wouldn’t believe the difference it makes when cutting or machining metal, I’m sure it would have the same effect on hard wood as well. Anyways appreciate the peek into your life. I dream of doing this someday on a professional level.
I've never seen coolant being used with wood since it would soak it up. I hope you make your dream a reality!
@@FortressFineWoodworks I instantly regret my suggestion 😭😂 Appreciate it anyways though!
Eh, it was close enough.
Hahahaha only 1/2" off on one side right?
Yeah I feel you buddy. I can't hand saw straight either.
But can you hand saw a curve? Thanks for watching!
I want a hickory electric guitar, but I can't find one so im gonna have to make it.
It would be a nice heavy wood for an electric.
I'd like to mention that the sound of an electric guitar is mostly shaped by the electromagnetic field of the pickups, and secondly by the amount of steel inside the strings. This means that If you want to make sure that a characteristic sound of the wood is getting picked up after a very small portion of it managed to travel back to the strings, you definitely want to go for single coils as they offer a wider spectrum with less emphasis on the mids. That being said, I don't think it's worth the struggle, but feel free to prove me wrong.
Worked with hickory once. Built a huge kitchen for a guy but ended up having to replace 3 machines when I finished. Lost so much money on that job. Never again.
Wow that sounds rough! It really does tear up machines
Somewhere there is a Japanese fine carpenter laughing at you with that hand saw 😆
I know, I can hear them laughing
